Sekigahara Battlefield Museum

A quiet morning yesterday. Austin went to the gym. Kaori and Tatsuki did some of his homework. Lindsey and I went for a short walk to the convenience store. We pottered around.

We left a bit later than we had intended and stopped at a Coco Curry for a spot of lunch. I like the Coco Curry menu. You can choose how much rice you want and also how much spice. Only a 150g serve of rice for me, and a -1 spice, please. Kaori also has -1 spice. It gives you the curry flavour with none of the heat. Perfect!

Then we went out to the Sekigahara Battlefield Museum, which marks the site of a significant battle in 1600. The information says it is one of three significant world battles, the other two being Gettysburg and Waterloo. I have heard of Gettysburg and Waterloo! Apparently, the Sekigahara battle led to more than 200 years of peace in Japan.

The museum also has a film of the battle. It was VERY LOUD. So much so that it got within 1 decibel of setting off the noise alert on my watch!

The Battle of Sekigahara clearly was of some significance. There is loads of information about it on the Gettysburg National Military Park website.

Views from the observation deck:

We were running later than we had intended to be, for a variety of reasons, one of which was that we had to wait for the 3pm showing of the Battle film, so we were tempted to drive past the famous bakery on the way home. Fortunately, Austin decided that we had time for a quick visit. The cinnamon buns he bought for dessert were absolutely delicious.

We have a big day planned for today. I hope it stops raining. But first a cup of tea, and perhaps I should get dressed!
