We had a leisurely start to the day- needed after the excitements of Saturday evening.
Austin took Wendy, Lindsey and me to the lolly shop
Lindsey and I have been there before. Wendy, obviously, has not. She was quite surprised to find such a large shop selling lollies and biscuits and snacks.
Then Austin took us to a coffee shop. There was no chance we would ever have found it. It is in a suburban area but not surrounded by any other shops, eateries, anything very much. I had a cocoa drink. It was unsweetened and really, once I got over the surprise of unsweetened cocoa, quite delicious. And pretty.
Lunchtime. We went to a sushi bar. The sushi offerings, as you would expect, come round on a conveyor belt. If you order something that you particularly want (fried chicken, chips, orange juice, prawn sushi, whatever) it is delivered to your "station" by shinkansen. Very cute!
As is the way with these sorts of places, you have to be careful not accidentally to eat too much!
Lots of plates to pay for But there were six of us |
And then Lindsey, Wendy and I left Austin, Kaori and Tatsuki to get back to their usual routine, and made our way by train up into the mountains to Takayama.
This was what greeted us when I looked out of our kitchen window this morning
Can't complain about the view!
